Private Photography Experience
This photography retreat is for solo photographers only, who want to be taught by a professional but at their own pace.
So regardless of your experience level and fitness level the retreat is all about you. You can learn as much as you want at your own pace without any distractions and receive 100% tailored guidance on everything there is to know about landscape and Milky Way photography.
You will decide on how early you want to start, how many hrs you want to be taught and how late you want to finish. It could be 18hr days or 6hr days. Regardless, it's my job to bring you up to speed or enhance and push what you thinkmight already know.

Essentials Equipment List

Tripod with level (ball head tripod recommended with bubble level on legs and a separate bubble on ball head (not critical for two bubble levels) – Manfroto are a good brand of Tripod

A DSLR or mirrorless camera (cropped sensor or full frame) that has full manual capability (M) on dial

Any lenses you have for the camera (Prime, zoom or telephoto)

Any lens filters (ND filters) if you have them

Lens warmer

Mobile phone to download free version of Camera / Star locations App

Gloves that you can poke tips of fingers out of (depending on tour date)

Personal Travel Insurance
(You will know if you have dirt on your sensor or lenses if, when you take a shot and review it, there are spots in the image)

Adverse weather which might affect outdoor shooting

Personal injury sustained while hiking / walking

Travel delays by your airline. If you miss the start date your tour will need to be re-scheduled so as not to impact the rest of the group.

If you are seriously injured on the hike and taken off the mountain you will be under the supervision of the emergency services and hospital. The tour will continue (if safe) with the other guests and PhototoursNZ will contact your emergency contacts to advise them of the situation. PhototoursNZ will also of course be in touch to check on your status in hospital and will visit as soon as the tour is complete. We will ensure your status is communicated to all parties as soon as practicably possible. A satellite phone will be carried by the tour leader.
